Hi again,

I've just been going through your archives, and love everything! The girls were especially taken with your watercolors, and the dishcloths would be a wonderful beginning knitting project.

Thanks so much for sharing so much of your beautiful life with us.

Love,

Marqueta

Dearest Selia,

What loveliness you have shared today! Well, I must say every time you post it is lovely! Your photos are so beautiful!

The candles and classical music sound wonderful and the dinner looks incredibly delicious! Thank you for sharing the recipes. They will certainly be added to my fall cooking and baking!

The dishcloths you knitted are so pretty and yes, they are so much more durable than store bought. I agree, when you give something that is homemade it means so much! I think knitting is a great stress reliever too! Thank you for sharing the instructions.

I am excited about seeing your doll. Indeed, I think the painting you recently purchased is very calming and peaceful! It is very beautiful. I think it will look perfect hanging over your sewing machine.

I loved the quote you shared, it is simply beautiful!

Thank you so much, dear Selia, for sharing all your wonderful homekeeping! You inspire me so much!

Blessings,
Paula

  • "...I want first of all...to be at peace with myself. I want a singleness of eye, a purity of intention, a central core to my life that will enable me to carry out these obligations and activities as well as I can. I want, in fact - to borrow from the language of the saints - to live "in grace" as much of the time as possible...By grace I mean an inner harmony, essentially spiritual, which can be translated into outward harmony...I would like to achieve a state of inner spiritual grace from which I could function and give as I was meant to in the eye of God..." by Anne Morrow Lindbergh Gift from the Sea

~A Garden of Thoughts~

  • THE Lord God planted a garden In the first white days of the world, And He set there an angel warden In a garment of light enfurled. So near to the peace of Heaven, That the hawk might nest with the wren, For there in the cool of the even God walked with the first of men. And I dream that these garden-closes With their shade and their sun-flecked sod And their lilies and bowers of roses, Were laid by the hand of God. The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth,-- One is nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth. For He broke it for us in a garden Under the olive-trees Where the angel of strength was the warden And the soul of the world found ease. ~~ by Dorothy Frances Gurney~~
  • To live content with small means, to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich, to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never, in a word to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common, this is to be my symphony. - William Henry Channing
