I love what you did with the metal file --how very pretty it turned out. All your flowers sound lovely, can't wait to see your fairy garden! Vintage finds are just great:-)

Dear Selia,

So beautiful! A fairy garden is such a lovely thing~my girls would love to come visit it!

And the file holder is very pretty and practical; thanks for the idea!

Lady Laurie

Dear Selia,
I love your file folder, it looks so elegant, that is such a great idea! Now I am wanting to do one, as my clippings are a bit helter skelter and spilling out of drawers!
Your finds are wonderful, I so love vintage linens and that tablecloth is a treasure. Beautiful tablecloths like this are getting so expensive now.
I hope you have a lovely day!

Hi Selia. While you enjoy your lovely warm fairy garden in the mellow south spare a thought for my wind swept 'fairy dell' garden in England's north country. How I envy all those species you have planted. You obviously have good deep soil. We live on rock and so our soil is only 2 ins deep in places but we have some pretty rock plants! Great finds by the way and I like your idea about people's gardening books, it would be interesting to see what other bloggers have collected over the years. I'll be back soon to see how the fairy magic is working. Eli

Oh please post your fairy house when you get it done. We love fairy houses. Your garden looks beautiful. Your file turned out perfect, I love it. Great finds, you lucky girl. Clarice

Dear Selia,

I love all your beautiful flowers! The colors are so beautiful! I love the idea of having a fairy garden, and I am sure it will delight children as well as adults! My, you have been very busy planting!!! It is such a joy to garden, isn't it?

The flowers you found at the thrift store are gorgeous! I love how you remade your file holder, and used one of the lovely flowers. Your folders are lovely too! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful idea!

The linens are so beautiful and $10 is quite the bargain for a hand crocheted tablecloth!!! I am so happy you found such pretties!

I enjoyed your lovely post and photos as always and the quote is wonderful!

Blessings, Paula

  • "...I want first of be at peace with myself. I want a singleness of eye, a purity of intention, a central core to my life that will enable me to carry out these obligations and activities as well as I can. I want, in fact - to borrow from the language of the saints - to live "in grace" as much of the time as possible...By grace I mean an inner harmony, essentially spiritual, which can be translated into outward harmony...I would like to achieve a state of inner spiritual grace from which I could function and give as I was meant to in the eye of God..." by Anne Morrow Lindbergh Gift from the Sea

~A Garden of Thoughts~

  • THE Lord God planted a garden In the first white days of the world, And He set there an angel warden In a garment of light enfurled. So near to the peace of Heaven, That the hawk might nest with the wren, For there in the cool of the even God walked with the first of men. And I dream that these garden-closes With their shade and their sun-flecked sod And their lilies and bowers of roses, Were laid by the hand of God. The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth,-- One is nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth. For He broke it for us in a garden Under the olive-trees Where the angel of strength was the warden And the soul of the world found ease. ~~ by Dorothy Frances Gurney~~
  • To live content with small means, to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion, to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich, to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly, to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart, to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never, in a word to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common, this is to be my symphony. - William Henry Channing
