And wow~weeeeeeeeee your dear hubby did a Bea~U~tiful job on the shelves!!!!! And you have it decorated just Elegant and beautiful! I would loved to do laundry in there, heck sit and read a book in there too!!
Just gorgeous......

I am so jealous of your lovely space!
Years ago I saw a wonderful laundry room featured in a magazine and I have wanted one ever since.
I have a plan for a laundry room one day. But right now, I have a washer in the kitchen, a dryer in a back hall, and an ironing board in a guest room!
Wonderful work by your husband and design work by YOU!

Hi Selia! Can you come decorate my little farm house? The laundry room is just beautiful! With our 3 boys, dog and friends in and out all the time my place looks like a hurricane hit it.

Your little puppy looks adorable in his outfit, what a sweet face.

Beautiful vintage Victrola!

BEAUTIFUL just like you my friend. What a change that room has made. I bet it is a delight to go in there now even if it is to be "The Laundry Fairy" which is what my husband loves to call me. Fairies need a beautiful place too. Tell hubby good job on the re-do & the Christmas gift. And I would love the receipe for the pork roast with cherries. Although I need to loose weight after this holiday! Happy New Year.

What a lovely gift from your husband! I adore your laundry room! Happy New Year! Warmly, Cathy

What a delightful site. I love the post about the mad tea party - I wish I could spend all day, every day in such a setting.
Best wishes for the New Year.

Dear Selia,
Happy New Year to you too!
I love the vitrola ~ what a wonderful gift! I love your laundry room ~ everything looks so old~fashioned! Your husband did a wonderful job installing and you did a wonderful job decorating.
Whenever my hubby installs a new shelf I have to be right there to make sure he doesn't put it too high. He is over 6 ft. and here I am at 5 ft 3 inches. I am always saying "a little lower honey"!!

Have a wonderful day!!

Dear Selia,

How truly lovely, the Victrola, the dog, and the laundry room!

What a blessed thing,

LuLu Kellogg

Ooooops! I forgot to comment on the Victrola. I have been searching for one for the last 6 months and hopefully I will find one. I know you are going to enjoy this SO much! Miss Bella looked so festive in her Christmas frockery :) Also, tell your husband he did a wonderful job on your shelves in the laundry room. I am getting the Commander to take notes!

Oh Selia, your laundry room turned out so stylish and wonderful. I am sure doing laundry is sooo much for fun now. Your menu sounds sooo yummy. I love to see your recipe for pork and wild cherry sauce. You have the sweetest hubby. I think a victrola is a very romantic gift. Clarice

Ohhhhh, I am grabbing my laundry bag and coming over to do laundry! I went and grabbed the Commander and told him to LOOK! I said "honey, my palms are glistening and I am having heart palpitations...this is my dream laundry room!" Selia, this is beautiful. I won't mind doing laundry in this room forever :) You did a fabulous job on the decor. This needs to be in Southern Living Magazine :)

Thank you for your kind words about The Octopus Queen necklace. I am so glad you are enjoying it and your earrings too :) Isn't Amber's artwork awesome? I did a post on her today.

What a fantastic gift Selia. Your husband must love you a lot. The Victrola will look really at home amongst your treasures. To me your laundry room looks like a palace! You should see mine, its a sort of workshop, log-store, boot-room dumping-ground. There is only just enough space for the washing machine! Luckily we have a large boiler house next door which is clean and white and ideal for clothes drying. I must show my husband your laundry room, I'm envious! Take care, Eli

Madai ( WrenCottage on flick'r )

Ohhhh... what a beauty!!! The old Victrola and your laundry room :)
You both did a great job in there!! I've never seen a laundry room so elegant ;) It must be so nice to be in there now, you can even leave the door open, unlike mine, lol! Bella looks especially cute in her Santa suit :)
I'm sure you and your dear husband will have fun dancing to that ol' Victrola, just curious, does it have a volume control?
Oh, and oh my, you must be an awesome gourmet, your menu looks amazing! It's no wonder you have a hubby that gladly does your bidding ;), maybe that's my trouble, need to work on my cooking skills, lol! just kiddin'
You are both very talented and are blessed to have one another :)
Thanks for sharing what's new at "the rabbit hole" ;)
xo Madai
Have a great weekend!!

Happy New Year to you too! How nice to get such a thoughtful and beautiful gift from your husband.
Love what you did to your laundry room and your dinner sounds delicious.
Best Wishes!

I just came over here from Beehive Cottage...I just love your blog name so I had to take a peek...lovely!

Have a wonderful New Year!

Cori G.

Dearest Selia,

I love the Victrola your dear sweet husband gave you! It is so gorgeous! I love that the same family had always owned it and it came with the original paperwork and records. What a wonderful treasure! I am so happy for you!

Oh, I love the photo of sweet Bella! She is just adorable in her santa suit! Your Christmas dinner and New Years dinner sound so delicious!

The necklace you won from LuLu and the earrings are lovely, as is the tag and wrapping. I also love the rabbit card!

Your laundry room is gorgeous!!! I know you enjoy doing your laundry so much more! Your husband did a wonderful job with the shelves. The trim is so pretty. I love how you used rub-ons to make the glass looked etched. That was so clever and looks very pretty! I love how you have everything decorate. The lace top is beautiful, and it is so true "a pleasant house makes winter more poetic!"

Thank you for sharing your lovely home! I always enjoy my visits with you!
Have a lovely day!
Love, Paula

Oh, by the way, I LOVE the Victrola! We purchased one at an auction a couple of years ago, and we've thoroughly enjoyed it! It came with tons of old records, and now when visiting antique stores, we look for more to add to our collection. I know you'll enjoy it! It's beautiful!

Selia, the laundry room looks fabulous! I love how it turned out! Your Christmas dinner sounds wonderful and yummy. I'll definitely have to try out some of your recipes! Hope your 2009 is a happy one! Best wishes! ~Paula

~A Garden of Thoughts~

  • THE Lord God planted a garden In the first white days of the world, And He set there an angel warden In a garment of light enfurled. So near to the peace of Heaven, That the hawk might nest with the wren, For there in the cool of the even God walked with the first of men. And I dream that these garden-closes With their shade and their sun-flecked sod And their lilies and bowers of roses, Were laid by the hand of God. The kiss of the sun for pardon, The song of the birds for mirth,-- One is nearer God's heart in a garden Than anywhere else on earth. For He broke it for us in a garden Under the olive-trees Where the angel of strength was the warden And the soul of the world found ease. ~~ by Dorothy Frances Gurney~~
